The All Terrier Club and the Staffy Club teamed up again for the 4th Annual Responsible Dog Owner Day Sunday, September 26th, 2010. This year, the clubs took the event to a new location in Renton. Last year RUFF opened a new off-leash Dog Park along the Cedar River Trail across from the Community Center and Carco Theater. The clubs decided what a great location to hold our event. We set up in the big grassy area right along the river trail. We talked to people as they were coming and going to the park. The city of Renton parks’ coordinator really helped the club with some wide spread advertising (including a reader board), and then she set up a booth for Renton city residents to purchase Renton Dog Licenses. The Westie, Scottie, Welsh and Fox Terrier breed and rescue clubs joined us along with Seattle Purebred Rescue, Sunset Vet, Bulls Eye Rescue, ACCES 24 hour Vet/Specialty Center, two local 4-H clubs, Bully Round-Up and three of our own club members with homemade art, soap and dog quilts. The event started of with rain as the groups set up but just as the event opened at noon the rain gave way to a few sun breaks. Participants were treated with not only dog treats but lots of good information on being a Responsible Dog Owner. Everyone had a great time visiting and educating the dogs and dog owners who come to the event. Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing was also offered by the clubs’ own member, Coleen. A total of 13 dogs tested and passed CGC during the event. Proceeds from the CGC were split with the All Terrier, Staffy and RUFF clubs. Our smallest CGC tester was a Chihuahua, “Max”, and the largest was a Burmese Mt Dog, “Buster”. Congratulations to the members in both clubs who tested and earned CGC. Thank You to all the members who set up a booth in the rain and held out for the sun. Also thank you to the members who just came to support us during the day. We hope to see more of you next year as either a group with a booth or a just a supporter. If you have any questions or would like more information please contact Coleen at coleenblaze@msn.com. See you next year. More pictures are available at http://s372.photobucket.com/home/SBTCPS |
